The 1990's was not that long ago, if I remember correctly.
If you grew up in the 90's you know how amazing it was to grow up before screens and social media. It makes my heart hurt that my kids did not get to experience an era like this. I listed some things that strike a memory--I'd love to hear some of yours!
What I would love little kids today to experience that no longer exist are:
the smell of plastic burning in your Easy Bake Oven.
collectible Disney cups and plates from McDonalds. I specifically remember my Hercules plate that said "I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy!'
going to my grandparent's house all the time--not just for holidays
collecting box tops and finding prizes in my cereal boxes.
not coming inside unless it was time to eat or if we had to go the bathroom.

Things I totally wish my preteen could experience:
malls. MALLLLLLS. How sad our kids can't walk around a true, completely full mall.
mood rings---how fun!
all the posters from Teen People we hung on our walls. (totally unacceptable today in our Instagram worthy aesthetically pleasing homes.)
Disney channel original movies that were released monthly.
coming home and watching Oprah.
pool days at our small town pool.
riding your bike to Blockbuster.
glittery roll on body sprays from Bath + Body Works on your dresser, Sweet Pea scented.
We didn't have a phone or tablet waiting at home for us after school. We had snacks, cable TV and strict instructions from Mom not to ruin our dinner. We took quizzes to find out which celebrity was our soulmate (Hello, Josh Hartnett!).
Being bored was actually kind of great. We rode bikes. We had to speak to so-and-so's parent when we called their landline---one we had memorized.
And somehow we survived.
